been busy
only have time for a quick post

heard a strange noise last night at about 4am
it sounded like a human voice whining something I couldn't quite understand
and then shortly after that downstairs at the door there was a loud; "KNOCK. KNOCK."

Just two knocks. I ran downstairs with a basebat bat (as though that would protect me from the random wood spirits or whatever).
and opened the door.
There was nothing there.

Am I losing it?

pix

View out one of the upstairs windows.

This doll was right above our heads where we were sleeping, creepy as fuck.

The upstairs. Its pretty cobwebby. Notice the tarot cards surrounding the door.

We ripped out the "shelves" on the wall there. Its a lot less cramped now.

The forest

View out the upstairs window.

Its dark.

My boyfriend and I keep hearing whispering in the woods at night.
Makes it very difficult to go outside and pee.
Its not bad during the day, but at night it gets weird.

The first night.

Last night was the first night and it was ROUGH.
No generator, no hot water, no flashlight!
What was I thinking?
We had to stumble in the pitch black night down the long path from the car to the house, all; "Do you see the house? I don't see the house-" -cue loud rustling in the woods- "OH GOD WHAT WAS THAT? I DONT WANT TO DIE."

We finally reached the house and discovered that our two cats had met another cat (that apparently lives there. Its a huge black and white cat, with a loud meow that sounds creepily like a baby crying). and were in the process of growing and yowling and generally making some seriously messed up noises at each other.

Which continued.
On...and on...and on... late into the night, until my boyfriend stormed down the stairs (That we had barricaded with all sorts of stuff, since we discovered that the back door did not close properly and we were living in fear of some little wild critter creeping into the house and eating our faces). grabbed our cats and forced them under the blankets, where they slept. For the entire night.
(I woke up with a good mouthful of cathair, let me tell you).
We fell asleep with the sharp cold stinging our noses and the sound of wind against trees rustling in our ears.
I dreamed of ravens. Weird coincidence?

Today we bought a WORKING generator. And the hot water heater is being shipped to us right now.
I did take some pictures, but AGAIN my camera died as soon as I got it on the land. I guess I need a new battery.
Its all very strange and last night I almost chickened out and said I couldn't do it. But I figure this shack is technically my house, so I had better man up and tough it out. It has a lot of potential.

-Oh I almost forgot, last night my boyfriend and I saw two weird flashes of light in the woods while we were looking out the windows upstairs.
I tried to recreate them, thinking that they were just a reflection of a candlelight in the glass of the window, but had no luck.
Just two, blink. Blink. Sharp and bright as stars.

(Pictured above, is the road leading to my house).

A bit of a setback...

So we have not yet spent our first night out there. On our last day of moving, it snowed!
Full-on. Cold, white, fluffy, unique bastards, falling from the sky! Madness.

We made it up to the house once, but almost got stuck. So we decided not to chance it and ended up holing up in a hotel for the past three days while we finished moving our things out there.
Tomorrow night-barring any crazy weird circumstances-we should be staying out there.

Also we can't get the generator started for some reason, so our first night looks like it's going to be cold.

pictures

I'm afraid there aren't many pictures, as my camera battery started dying as soon as we arrived. And also because my boyfriend and I ended up having a huge fight while we were out there.

Nothing too paranormal so far, but I was only there for about an hour today.
I apologize for the bad quality of the pictures, I had to avoid using the flash because it was draining my camera like crazy.

The house. (the tarp on top of it was laboriously put there by my boyfriend and I. It leaks. I should be buying roofing supplies soon).
The broken mirror on the front steps.
Stairs going up. The upstairs is barricaded off for some reason.
The dusty windows inside the house. There is a whole wall of windows in there.
a skull on a cage? This was set right out front of the cabin.
The house. (In the upper right hand corner)
A strange mask hidden in a corner of the garden. (which is hardly the garden that I remember anymore. Its all moss. No flowers).
A drawing of a girl that I found inside the house. Not very paranormal, but still interesting.

This picture is terrible, but if you look closely, you'll see a raven. It followed me the entire time I was out there, hopping from branch to branch, making its little noises, click clock click. It never stopped watching me, I saw it on a branch above the car when we were leaving.
A dogs head statue, how welcoming!

The house itself. Its REALLY run-down. What have I gotten myself into?

There are clocks everywhere. I'll take pictures of the others when I go out there again. (The profile picture of this blog is another one of them)

I didn't have time to explore deeper into the forest, but I hope once I move out there I'll have all the time in the world.

Backstory.

I had an aunt who lived in the wild wild forests of northern california.
She spoke of strange people coming out of the woods to visit with her.
They always asked to be invited in, but she never let them, instead she would give them tea in the garden. She said they always vanished after she went to bring the dirty dishes inside.
There were also stories of lights in the woods, voices and people standing at the edge of the treeline.

Raven feathers were a reoccurring theme as she mentioned that most of the people wore them.

Aside from the stories my aunt was pretty down to earth, so I'm somewhat inclined to believe her.
My mother and the woman who owned the land before my aunt also spoke of hearing and seeing strange things as well.

My aunt died and left me the cabin as inheritance, (probably because I was weird enough to be fascinated with the place and the stories). and shortly after that I was evicted.(Old cool landlord sold to new lame landlord). So I decided to take that as a sign and move out to the forest.

I'll be spending my first night there on april 5th. And I'm going to use this blog to document anything that might happen out there. (if anything does)
Eventually there should be pictures of the place!
